  Former Special Assistant on New Media to President Muhammadu Buhari, Lauretta Onochie, has called on the Department of State Services (DSS), to arrest the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, for allegedly instigating violence in the country. Onochie‘s call for Obi’s arrest came as a reaction to an old pre-election video posted by one Abubakar Sidiq Usman where Obi had called on his supporters to take the country back. According to her, Obi was trying to provoke violence in the country using his supporters popularly called ‘Obidients’ following his defeat in the 2023 presidential election. Recall that the institution had been in crisis recently following the suspension of the Rector, Dr Tajudeen Odetayo on July 11, 2023, by the state government on allegation of fund misappropriation and appointing Mr Kehinde Alabi in an acting capacity. The 10th Senate under the leadership of Godswill Akpabio has rejected calls to cut down on its expenses, despite the economic hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy. speaking to journalists in Ilorin, Kwara state, on Monday, September 4, 2023. According to him, the National Assembly is not responsible for any economic hardship experienced in Nigeria. He pointed out that lawmakers play many important roles, including committee work and oversight, without any allowances attached.
